6 Beautiful Beach At Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta

Beach in Jogja is not just Parangtritis only. In Gunung Kidul there are even some beaches that are still very quiet and natural.

1. Siung Beach


Located about 70 km from downtown Jogja, Siung beach can be reached with travel time of about two hours. This beach has large rocks. The naming of this beach also has to do with rocks. On this beach there is a large rock that looks similar to ape teeth or also called Siung Wanara. Siung word is finally taken to call this beautiful beach. In Javanese means cloves are tooth canines.

For your hobby rock climbing, Siung beach is a cool place to channel the hobby. Cliffs on the beach Siung many are used to do rock climbing. There are more than 250 rock climbing routes on Siung beach. On the cliff beach there is also a camping ground that you can use to set up your tent if you want to spend the night at Siung beach.

2. Pok Tunggal Beach


Pok Tunggal is one of the most beautiful beaches in Jogja. The sand beach here looks white clean and soft. Just like Siung beach, Pok Tunggal beach is also surrounded by coral cliffs that make the scenery more beautiful. This single Pok Beach is likely new. This beach just started booming starting in 2012. This beach has some ingenuity. One of them is the existence of fresh water source which comes from underground river flow

The naming of this beach is taken from a tree there. This beach is still in the same district with Siung beach that is Tepus district

3. Indrayanti Beach


The name of this beach is actually beach Pulang Sawal or abbreviated with Pulsa beach. Indrayanti is actually the name of the owner of a cafe there. However, people have already known this beach with the name of Indrayanti beach. Still in the district of Tepus, Indrayanti beach has white sand and clean water. Fun to play water

Beach Pulang Sawal aka Indrayanti beach is already quite crowded but keasrian this beach is still very well preserved. The beach is also quite modern. There are already lodging, cafes and restaurants. The beach is also surrounded by large rocks. There are also gazebos that can be used to relax while enjoying the cool and calming beach air

4. Sundak Beach


Sundak Beach is one of the beach that has historical value in Jogja. The location of this beach is still in Tepus sub district precisely in the village of Sidoharjo. The origin of the beach name is quite unique. In ancient times, around 1976 there was an interesting incident. There is a pet dog who plays there and then go into the cave. In the cave the dog meets with a hedgehog look. Karna is hungry the dog intends to eat the hedgehog but the hedgehog intends to dodge. Finally there was a fight between the two. In short, the dog managed to win the battle and managed to eat the meat of hedgehog

The act is known to the owner of the dog and eventually he checked into the cave. In the cave the owner found another piece of hedgehog's body that the dog did not eat. Well, from the event then came the name Sundak which is short for asu (dog) and porcupine. Before becoming Sundak this beach was formerly named beach Wedibelah

5. Krakal Beach


This beach is in the district Tanjungsari. Just like any other beach in Gunung Kidul, Krakal beach has a beautiful view with white sand and friendly waves. Most of the beach lies there are rocks, where small fish are located.

The waves on Krakal beach are also quite friendly for those who love to surf. The beach is also quite crowded. Hotels and restaurants are mostly located around the beach

6. Baron Beach


Baron Beach is located in the Village Kemadang, District Tanjungsari. This beach is also quite famous in Jogja. Many of the uniqueness of this beach. One of them is the existence of freshwater underground sungi. The river water flows into the sea.

The beach also has some facilities such as fish auctions, children's play rides, to the boat machine. This beach is also one of the beaches used as a place to perform a sea alms ceremony that is done by fishermen. The ceremony was held on the first date of the Javanese calendar.
